The Places I’m Most Excited to Visit Once We Can Travel Again

A lot of our conversations lately center around where we want to go once we can travel again. We are all starting to get tired of these walls— as I’m sure everyone is at this time. Our daily walks and time in the yard help, but we have never wanted to travel around New England as much as we do now!

I thought I’d share what is on our must visit list once our travel ban is lifted. Here are our top picks and I hope once the end of May is here we’ll be able to get out and enjoy them.

This is #1 on our list. We have a rose-covered ocean view cottage in ‘Sconset booked for Mid-July and I am really REALLY hoping we get to take this vacation that we have been so looking forward to all year long! Nantucket has to be my favorite summer place in all of New England. I’m craving days on the beach, seafood dinners on the patio, sunrises and sunsets over the Atlantic, and all those amazing blooms!

I am supposed to visit this amazing place right after Memorial Day and I’m holding out hope that will still happen. If not, we’ll have to try later in the year for sure. It’s been on my list ever since we moved here, and I can imagine it’s even more spectacular in person than all the photos I’ve seen! Fingers-crossed!

We are so lucky here in Connecticut to have so many beautiful places to enjoy. I love visiting Stonington Borough in late June and early July. This coastal village is full of amazing blooms and architecture. The little lighthouse museum is a nice little attraction too. It’s a great day trip for us being so close.

The best time for visiting areas in and around Kennebunkport is at the end of summer and in September for our family. It’s fun during peak season, of course, but I do love it not so crowded. Some of our favorite lighthouses are here and we always enjoy the rocky coastlines and great seafood. No visit is ever complete without a stop at the L.L. Bean Flagship store on our way home.

There are quite a few other places I have my list too, but that would make for a very long list indeed! Here’s a few more mentions of places that we might venture to… Chatham and some spots around Cape Cod are on my travel radar again. Newport, Rhode Island is one of Topher’s favorites and we always end up there at some point. I do enjoy Essex, Connecticut— especially around the holidays and Manchester, Vermont a lot in the fall.

I have several places on my list I haven’t visited yet, and I’m uncertain as of now if we will get to them this year. With our stay at home orders giving us quite the late start on our travels, they may just have to wait until 2021.

We were going to try to fit Block Island in, but I’m unsure if it will work out. I added a visit to Rockport and Newburyport, Massachusetts on my future list. We would love to do a fall foliage trip to New Hampshire one of these days too.

What’s important is that we are all safe and healthy during this time. I’m hoping we will get to have our wonderful New England summer once again.

Where’s the first place you want to visit once we are able to travel again?

Until next time,

Kristy
