We are back from our vacation in Kennebunkport, Maine and I can’t wait to share all the details with you in the days ahead! I am so thankful that we even got to take a vacation this year all things considered. It turned out to be the best choice we could have made going up to Maine for a week this summer. It was full of family fun and we felt really safe around town and in our vacation rental.
I thought I’d kick off the Maine sharing with some shots around the Cape Porpoise Harbor. Cape Porpoise is a wonderful little coastal village that is part of the town of Kennebunkport. I loved walking and exploring this quaint hamlet and catching glimpses of life here. It’s a working fishing village and offers up some great dining options too. It’s much quieter and a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of Dock Square in town. Every time I have been here it’s been so peaceful.
We started at the harbor and here you can get great views of fishing boats, the Goat Island Lighthouse, and idyllic Maine details are around every corner. I’ll let the photos do the talking and then list some of my favorite restaurants and sights around the village at the end of this post.
The Village of Cape Porpoise
To Grab a Bite
Nunan’s Lobster Hut– This was one of our favorites for a classic lobster dinner while on vacation.
The Ramp Bar & Grill– Great casual spot for food and drinks.
Cape Porpoise Chowder House– Casual spot with outdoor seating offering all the New England seafood options.
Musette– Great casual restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Bites to Go
Bradbury Brothers Market-Picked up groceries here for the week and they have a great selection for such a small market. Great meat department for grilling options too.
Cape Porpoise Kitchen– Gourmet meals to go. Didn’t try it this trip, but heard good things.
Langsford Lobster & Fish House– Great fresh catches to take home to prepare.
Shopping
Farm & Table– One of my favorite stops for picking up some kitchen and home wares. I love the candles and reed diffusers. Farm + Sea “Sea Girl” I picked up for our home. Smells amazing!
Sight-seeing
Cape Porpoise Harbor– Here you can see views of Goat Island Lighthouse. A little rocky shoreline to walk and get views of fishing boats and the nearby islands.
Langsford Road- Here you will see the trio of homes on stilts in the water, a great lobster shack, and another view of the Goat Island Lighthouse. It’s a great walking area.
I have a lot more to share in the days ahead from our Kennebunkport explorations. I’ll also put together a thorough guide for you too.
