As much as I love to travel, I love a good old backyard evening at home just as much! I wanted to share some of my latest favorite pieces to elevate your next backyard soirée. I believe in celebrating the everyday and believe you don’t need a holiday to dress up and enjoy a beautiful evening-even if you are just steps outside your backdoor.
This past weekend, Toph and I enjoyed a little dinner for two al fresco after a weekend of soccer games, yardwork, and chores. Here’s how we set up our backyard for our first spring dinner outside and I’ll link to the pieces featured here for you too.
Bring the Indoors Out for a Special Night
We are renovating and we don’t have any outdoor dining furniture at the moment, so I bring a lot of the indoors out and one of my favorite chairs to use outside are folding bamboo chairs. They are easy to store and I have a set of 10 for bigger parties. I love a good umbrella for added shade—a beach umbrella will work in a pinch. Garden stools or a butler tray are great additions for another place to hold drinks or other plates and glasses. For bigger parties, I love a long banquet table and just covering it with a full length banquet tablecloth and layer over another beautiful smaller tablecloth.
Dress the Table
A great tablecloth can really cover up a table that you aren’t crazy about or add that layer of sophistication to make things feel extra special. Beautiful napkins and chargers, vases—I love using my blue and white ginger jars to hold flowers, and your favorite china can add a more elevated vibe to your outdoor entertaining. If you are too afraid to use your china outdoors there are some really great melamine options that look amazing lately too. I love the wrapped glassware and pitchers for spring and summer entertaining. A great ice bucket and serving tray are some additions you may want to add. I’ve linked the ones in this post and similar items for you since the tablecloth and napkins here are out fo stock for the moment.
Dress Up at Home
I love a good garden party dress whether you are entertaining a group of 20 or just enjoying a romantic little dinner for two. This one is by Madison Mathews and is perfect for the season and will definitely make you feel like the hostess with the mostest! It has a matching headband and adding in a few great accessories like fun raffia jewelry and sunnies can make you feel like you are transported on a little vacay right in your backyard.
