Sunroom Refresh and My DIY Grasscloth Coffee Table

Happy Sunday! I’ve been in a serious nesting mode lately. I have little “sprucing up” projects I’m doing here and there and then the bigger things will start to move ahead. We meet with our contractor and structural engineer this week to assess some things for the renovation and the addition. I’m so excited to get some dates on the books for construction to start, but until that happens I’ve been having fun with some little projects.

One thing I experimented with on Saturday was a DIY project. I don’t do them very often anymore, but the grasscloth made me do it!

We fixed up our sunroom after buying this home, but it is actually going to be removed when we put the addition on. Since we don’t know how much longer we are living with it (a few months or over a year—just depends on the contractor’s availability), I don’t want to spend money on doing much to it. In its place will be a first floor great room, extending our basement to a workout room and another bathroom, and a second story master closet and bathroom.

Until breaking ground happens, I want to enjoy it as-is. So, I had an old coffee table and left over peel and stick grasscloth from our bedroom makeover and decided—why not?!

Well, I love the result and now I’m eyeing the donation pile of furniture dreaming up another grasscloth makeover!

Here’s my DIY grasscloth coffee table and a little decor refresh I did in our little sunroom…

(I’ll post links of the peel and stick grasscloth I used and some decor pieces so you can achieve this look too.)

To Note: If you are wanting to accomplish this DIY, I recommend using furniture that is smooth. Just like applying this to a wall you will get the best result with a flat surface. Be sure to clean your furniture’s surface well and fill in any dings before you start installing the grasscloth.

For this project, you will want a wallpaper kit with a smoother, exacto knife, and small roller. You’ll need a tape measure, scissors, and a straight edge too. Other than that its just measuring twice and cutting!

The Before & After of the Coffee Table

I love how bright and fresh everything is in our sunroom. It’s nice to enjoy it on warmer days here. It’s a 3 season room, so on really cold days it’s not great. It is one of the reasons why we wanted to put an addition on and we really want a bigger entertaining space. We are keeping the original French doors and windows when the addition but the little sunroom will be replaced with what we have dreamt up with the architect. It will be fun to see how this all comes together over the years.
