Home Project: The Hallway Makeover

The Hallway Project

There are two projects I’m working on in our home right now. One being our hallway. Our upstairs hallway I haven’t touched since we bought this house. Recently, I finally landed on what I wanted to do up there. It’s a space that has 11 walls with different angles and pitches and it has a great spot to add a built-in window seat and cabinet storage. Today, I wanted to share the plans for this space with you.

This month, we’ve been working on it in our spare time, which honestly, hasn’t been much lately. We made some good progress this Sunday, and I’m going to try to get all the wallpaper up in the evenings after work and sports this week. My goal is once dinner is finished and cleaned up, to hang 3-4 panels every night.

Installing the wallpaper is step one in making this space shine. I l fell in love with this blue and white striped grasscloth wallpaper from Cailini Coastal for this space. With all the pitches and angles up there, it’s going to make for a really striking treatment. This paper is just gorgeous and a great high quality wallpaper to work with.

There’s a lot more to do once the paper is installed. It’s going to take some time since we are just working on it when we have a few hours here and there.

Here’s some things I will be incorporating into the design…

This Emmy Chambray Stripe Grasscloth Wallpaper really is the star of the space. I’ll share the progress of this once I finish installing it. This wallpaper is on sale right now, if you’d like to purchase it at a great price.

We are installing the same shiplap we used downstairs on the hallway ceiling and staircase. When I’m done wallpapering, we are going to start installing it.

All of the trim, doors, and shiplap will get freshened up with Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.

For lighting, we are replacing the ceiling light with this nautical flush mount. Where the window seat will be built in the alcove, we are installing these coastal sconces on each side for reading lights and more layers of soft light.

I wanted a large mirror for one of the walls at the end of the hallway, and think I’m going to go with this Atoll Mirror. I love how the frame mimics coral.

There’s an art and photography wall I’m going to install on one of the walls too, and I’ll share more on that soon.

There’s a little peek at one of the home projects I’m working on right now. I’ll update when I have more progress to share.
