We’ve booked most of our spring & summer travel for the year. We have a nice jaunt up to the Midcoast of Maine, and our annual Nantucket vacation on the horizon. With the nice weather approaching, I’ve been thinking about what I want to wear here in New England this season. I have my staples like my Saint James Breton Shirts and RL sweaters, but I do like to add some new into the mix every year. We are lucky that we are so close to the water, and those shoreline days are almost here. I’ve been prepping my wardrobe for the season.
One of the things I love most about the classic New England coastal wardrobe is that it is practical, yet you can dress it up. Wearing casual separates or athletic wear for the activity of the day is the norm during the daylight hours. At night, after a good shower and primp, it’s all about not trying too hard with a great ‘throw on and go’ dinner dress and some great accessories. I love the ease of this style of dressing, and the classic tailoring and stripes that are so prevalent in coastal apparel.
Here’s what I’m loving for my New England Spring & Summer Wardrobe this year…

what I’ve added to my closet lately…
This navy striped set and raffia hat was just delivered, and it’s giving all the New England coastal vibes. Just note, I had to size down in two sizes in the mariner jersey top and one size in the mariner jersey shorts. The boatneck shirt says oversized, but I was swimming in my regular size. I love the ease of this set, and that the each piece can be worn with other items pretty seamlessly. The mariner jersey fabric is a nice weight and keeps its shape. (now I just need a tan on those legs! ha-ha!)

Other staples in my summer wardrobe this year will be linen pants. There are so many to choose from this season. Retailers are definitely on board with the New England style and fisherman aesthetic this year. Here are two linen pants I’ve tried, and they both come in tall sizing, which I appreciate because I’m very tall. The J.Crew Linen Drawstring Pants (more cropped at the ankle) & the very budget-friendly Old Navy Linen Blend Wide Leg Pants. For budget finds–I love the fit!
Also, I love to pair linen pants with a tank and a cardigan sweater if it gets cooler in the spring and summer. Which, definitely can happen, especially when enjoying evenings by the water. This varsity flag cardigan is one of my favorites from a small shop in Newport, The Pink Pineapple.
These are the things on my list for summer so far…I love what has been delivered so far.
Happy Planning,
xx Kristy
