Memorial Day weekend always marks the start of summer to me…it’s the last week of school here, and we are ready for calmer days, beach weekends, and our summer travels.

We had an all day rain on Sunday, so we took advantage of it and painted our interiors. Nothing major. We just refreshed all the trim, fireplace surround, bookcases, baseboards, and crown. Our home is going to be a construction zone for part of the year, so I wanted to get it done before it all becomes taken over by construction crews. Our bathrooms and kitchen are getting renovated this summer, so I’m knocking out the minor stuff now, so I can just focus on those projects. I’ve been buttoning up the upstairs hallway and the sunroom.

Here’s a few decor finds I’ve added to our home lately…

I’ll be sharing the sunroom on Instagram soon, but I just installed these relaxed striped shades and added in the matching striped pillows on the sofa. I love the sailor stripe in this space. I opted for lined but not blackout, because I wanted to just diffuse the light. It’s nice to have them, because sometimes the sun can be blinding on the right side of the room in the morning.

I’ll have to shoot a better photo of the upstairs when I have more time, but I love the scale of this model sail boat. I wanted something to fill up the space, and I love that you see it at the top of stairs when you enter our front door too.

around the house…

I feel like I’m adding striped to everything lately. I played around with adding some blue striped ruffle pillows to our sofas…I don’t hate it. It’s giving 90’s Ralph Lauren beach house.

I found that little shell box at a local shop, and I think I’m going to add a few more to our coffee table. I had one of my grandma’s and it has went missing unfortunately. It makes me smile to see it in our home.

Since we had to paint everything, I am going to back the bookcases this weekend with the same wheat grasscloth I used on our living room panels. I did love the blue, but I want to unify the space a bit more with our book shoot coming up.
