I love to share my favorite towns in Connecticut. With the arrival of spring, I’m highlighting shoreline towns here in Connecticut and western Rhode Island. The charming village of Essex, Connecticut is one to visit this month. From March 23rd-April 21st this historic town welcomes visitors of all ages to come enjoy Daffodil Days 2024. Over 43,000 daffodils are planted throughout the towns of Essex, Ivoryton, and Centerbrook to welcome springtime. The beauty of the season comes alive as these blooms grace hillsides, lawns, and businesses.
Essex is one of my family’s favorite places, and with it being so close, we visit often throughout the year. The Griswold Inn holds a special place in our hearts and has become a place we celebrate birthdays and holidays. I always say Essex has one the most charming Main Streets in U.S.A. If you get the chance this spring, take a jaunt over and enjoy all the blooms and the boat show at the end of April.
I popped into town briefly to run an errand for my son, and here’s some images of the blooms around town. The buds are just starting to open. I think in the next week (or two) it will be quite the beautiful sight to behold.
Best places to view the daffodils…
- Sunset Pond
- Congregational Church Hillside
- Across from the Essex Firehouse
- Ivoryton Green
- All around Essex Village there are displays and plantings around homes & businesses
If I get a chance, I’m going to visit again to see them in full bloom. The ones at the pond and church were just starting to open up.
Join me this spring…
