I love decorating for the change of seasons in our New England home. Fall decor is always a favorite to bring into our spaces. We have a very New England coastal vibe going on in our interiors, and here is how I infuse fall decorating into our spaces.

#1 Blackwatch Plaid
An easy change is switching out our throw blankets. I love the way blackwatch plaid compliments a blue and white interior in the fall. I put a pair of these blackwatch plaid blankets on each sofa.
Also, I change out our coffee table books. This Ralph Lauren book has a blackwatch plaid cover, and I love having it out front and center for the colder months.
#2 Burl Wood, Tortoise Glass, & Horn
The warm tones of burl wood, tortoise glass, and horn are favorites to mix into our fall decor this time of year. This burl wood tray is great atop our coffee table.
I found tortoise glass bowls at an antique shop, and they hold matchbooks. I always like to have a mix of old and new in our home.
The horn accent looks great on our mantel, but this year I opted to put it on one of our butler’s trays. Another horn embellished box I placed on our bookcase.
#3 Magnolia Branches & White Pumpkins
Whenever possible I prefer, fresh naturals over faux. I love a bunch of magnolia branches in a vase. Trader Joe’s always has them this time of year.
On my mantel, since this is our family room and a TV is over the fireplace, I place small mini pumpkins on it every year that I pick up from the market.
#5 Layers of Light with Sconces
One thing we are doing as we work on our home, is adding in layers of light in each space. We just installed these brass & rattan sconces on each side of our fireplace.
With these shorter hours of daylight, I love the mood of layered light at night. It makes spaces feel intimate and more inviting. Lamps, sconces, and picture lights all work together to make a space full of warmth.
#6 More Fall Details
I fill this large seagrass basket with extra blankets and pillows. It’s great for when company is over or when we have a movie night in here.
These velvet pumpkins are a cute touch for the season. They are way better quality than a lot of the other ones I’ve seen.
Happy Fall!
