Fall in Connecticut’s Farmington Valley

We spent last Sunday hiking through the scenic Connecticut Farmington Valley at one of our favorite places. The Hillstead Museum is a local gem that has the perfect mix of scenic views, a grand estate, hiking trails, sunken gardens, a farm, an amazing art collection and museum.

Before we moved out to Connecticut, we stayed in Farmington on our first visit here. It sold us on making the transition to my husband’s new job and uprooting our lives to move out east. We quickly fell in love with the charm of the Connecticut River Valley. The homes, the vistas, and its close proximity to everywhere we wanted to explore in New England. It didn’t take much convincing after that.

We packed up some goodies and headed out to enjoy a gorgeous fall day. Here are some photos of our day at Hillstead…

It was a gorgeous Sunday to leisurely enjoy the grounds sipping hot cider and bundling up. It did get warm enough in the afternoon to go without a jacket or blanket which was nice. Those days are numbered for sure!

Until next time,
