Fall Stay at the Mayflower Inn

I recently enjoyed a fall stay at the Mayflower Inn in Washington, Connecticut for a little girls getaway. This Auberge property is hands down one my favorite inns in Connecticut. Hidden inside the wooded hills, it has such a picturesque setting. With beautiful grounds, hiking trails, and immaculate gardens it has a very countryside estate feel.

Inside the inn is just as magnificent with warm, upscale interiors. Many of the rooms, suites, and common areas are perfected by renowned designer Celerie Kemble. With an amazing restaurant, top-notch spa, and plenty of seasonal activities to enjoy this will be a place you will want to return to time and time again. My husband and I often times drive over here to dine and it’s such a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

My friend, Kate Hammer, accompanied me on this trip and we just had a fantastic time!

The Grounds

The Shakespeare Garden is a favorite with quotes from many of The Bard’s great works as you stroll along the paths. In the fall, touches of the season are all around. Seasonal displays, the backdrop of fall foliage, and the Bonfire Nightly Ritual await you!

My Room

The lovely room I stayed in had a garden view, a fireplace, a full bathroom with a jetted soaking tub and shower, and absolutely gorgeous decor. Designed by Celerie Kemble, it’s a blend of pattern and texture that is next level. I kept joking and saying, “I’m never leaving!” The Mayflower Inn has nailed the cozy upscale aesthetic. Every creature comfort you would want is in your room. That bed was so incredibly comfortable. Ending each day and starting each morning with the sumptuous bed fireside was a lovely treat. The turn-down service at Mayflower is something special too. Lavender pillow spray on your nightstand, tea service, and a cloche of delectable chocolates.

Dining

Dining at the inn is a special experience. Out of respect for the other patrons and an event going on, we only photographed our breakfast service on the porch. We enjoyed a very special evening in The Garden Room with an amazing seasonal menu by talented Michelin-starred Executive Chef Jose Ramírez-Ruiz. I shared snippets of this on Instagram, but it’s something you must experience.

The Tavern offers another amazing menu with more comfort food options and be sure to book a Cocktail Mixing Class with Babis. That was such a fun afternoon and entertaining too!

Breakfast each morning has a menu of healthy options and heartier selections. The perfect start to your day!

Inside the Inn

The interiors are impeccably done. The fireplaces in the parlor & library make for cozy nooks to relax in. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cut my time here short and was not able to photograph more spaces. You can see video of the interiors on my Instagram. I’m thinking I’m just going to have to return for another stay soon!
Once a school, the library at the Mayflower Inn used to be the headmaster’s office. It’s a cozy nook to read a book by the fire or challenge a friend to a game of chess.

I’d like to thank the lovely staff at The Mayflower Inn for making our stay one to remember & the team at Auberge Resorts. Due to unfortunate & unforeseen circumstances, I had to leave early and fly out for family and a funeral. I definitely want to come back and experience the spa and hike the grounds more extensively. It’s always such a peaceful and beautiful experience to stay here. This inn is full of timeless beauty and a true place to relax, unplug, and indulge!
