Fall Wardrobe Staples from Talbots

This post is in partnership with Talbots. All opinions are mine.

We had our first fall haul of the season this weekend from one of our favorite local farms to start our front door display. All the pumpkins and these cooler mornings lately, inspired me to switch over my closet for the season too. I realized I wanted to update a few pieces that had seen better days, so on the hunt I went to find some new wardrobe staples. Today, I wanted to share some fall staples that I added to my wardrobe this year from Talbots.

One of the reasons I always love shopping at Talbots is they carry tall sizing in many jeans, pants, and corduroys. I find as I hit my mid-40’s, I lean towards selecting things that are classic and timeless. I’ve always been preppy in my taste, but even more so as time goes by.

This fall, I wanted to add in a shorter length jacket and some new corduroy pants since most of mine have seen better days. Here’s what I found at Talbot’s from their September Collection in stores and online now.

Wardrobe Staples from Talbots

The Navy Peacoat

This navy peacoat has beautiful tailoring and I love that it is a transitional option to the wool peacoat. A perfect layering piece for fall with classic style. The pop of red on the collar is a fun touch too. It has a nice weight, but not bulky at all.

I paired the peacoat with these straight leg corduroy pants in caramel that come in tall sizing. They do run small, so I would size one size up. The fit is slightly different than last years, but one size up and they fit like a glove. I love the length too, for reference I’m 5’11’’. I’ll be able to wear these with a heeled loafer or boot and they will be plenty long enough.

The tassel driving flats in chestnut look great paired with this outfit. I love having some cute slip on and go shoes for quick trips to the school and back. These also ran smaller this year, so I would size up on these too one half size.

The Crisp White Tunic Blouse

A great white cotton blouse is always a wardrobe staple as we know, but I wanted a longer length to pair with shorter jackets. Since I’m tall, I like to balance out my proportions and this tunic length white blouse has become an essential staple for me. It runs TTS.

I went with the same corduroy straight leg pants in olive and paired them with their brown riding boots. I’m wearing the medium width here, but they also come in extended calf if you need more room.

For a little added color, I love the suede blue crossbody bag. It comes in red and olive too.

You guys are getting an early preview of the remodeling we are doing to our Connecticut home, Foxhill House. We started the exterior renovation of our home and had it painted this crisp white, BM Simply White, and all the shutters and doors painted green, BM Absolute Green. There’s still a lot to do to add more curb appeal, but I love the change just the paint job has accomplished. I’ve designed a portico and we will be landscaping, but that’s on hold until spring when the contractor can begin to work on it. Now, I’m enjoying how the fall pumpkins and blooms really pop with that pretty, freshly painted white siding. I’ve always adored white homes with green shutters. I’m so happy this part of the reno has made such a huge difference. Our little fox door knocker, a nod to our home’s name, made a great detail too.

Thanks for stopping by today! The pups and I hope you are enjoying the beginning of the coziest season of all!

Happy September!
