January Interiors Refresh

Reset & Refresh

Here’s a look at some small little updates in our home to freshen up for the new year. I love that our home feels like a vacation in the winter months. Our interiors are definitely inspired by our love of New England and our summers on Nantucket. Here are a few things I’ve upgraded this year to add little extra detail to our home. *I’ll share a source list at the end of this post for you too.

I added these box pleat blue and white striped lamp shades to our sconces. These are so well made and add an little extra something. Details always make the design to me. In our home, this is an easy way to add some more pattern and interest.

Before the holidays, I installed more wallpaper up the wall of our staircase. I am working on the upstairs hallway now, and will share a little progress here for you in this post.

I love to change out my coffee table books as the seasons change. I wanted some more interior inspiration at reach since we will be working on more interiors this year. Also, I love these faux delphinium stems. They are a great stand-in when you don’t have real blooms in your home.

Another little change I did right before the holidays, was a little upgrade to our foyer. I wanted more lighting and missed having a mirror here, so I moved our console table and added the pair of lamps and new coastal mirror. I added those patterned blue shades to the lamps to add another layer of blue.

Also, I added in the scalloped jute rug that matches our rug in the living room.

This works so much better than the drop zone situation we had before, and I love that it is more polished since it is one of the first things you see upon entering our home.

Now, here’s a peek at our upstairs hallway I am going to finish up this winter. I started wallpapering before the holidays, but had to stop due to fighting illnesses and helping my husband while he awaited his surgery.

I love a good striped wallpaper, and you can get this one on sale right now. I can’t wait to finish up this open space and share the whole layout with you soon.

In our primary bedroom, I simply reset the bedding back to our regular set (it is out of stock right now). I loved mixing it up with the red scallop for the holidays, and think I will do that again next Christmas.

Our dining room, I also reset and took out the tree and holiday decor. I am using the same faux delphinium stems in a larger vase shown here. Older photo, but it shows the stems I have out on our dining table for the moment.

The cohesive design will continue in 2025…

I love the color story and cohesive design of the interiors we have worked on so far. This winter, I am finishing up our upstairs hallway and will then start on our little downstairs powder room.

This spring, we are renovating our kitchen including a breakfast nook. I have been so looking forward to getting the ball rolling on this space! We wanted to do it last year, but with all the health struggles we decided to postpone for 2025. I love a good kitchen remodel, and since ours is open to our living room, it will be like putting a bow on our first floor interiors.

Besides those main interior projects, we have some smaller tweaks we’d like to tackle this year too. We have a closet in our dining room we’d like to convert to a built-in bar. That will be a fun little change.

Also, our upstairs hallway has a nook that we want to have some cabinetry installed for more linen storage. I think we are going to have that done when we work on the kitchen since it will require cabinets and countertop.

Those are the home projects we are tackling this year. I’m looking forward to getting the first floor pretty much done so we can start planning the additions. Upstairs we still have some bathrooms and closets to remodel, but that will be a future endeavor.
