A Visit to Peggy’s Cove

The charming fishing village of Peggy’s Cove and the Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse was hands down our favorite spot we visited when we did our Nova Scotia Road Trip. I love rocky coastlines and quaint fishing villages full of color and salty vibes. Everything in this village is just charming.

It’s quite the tourist attraction, but for good reason. Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse is perched atop massive granite rocks that show wear from the waves. It’s the most photographed lighthouse in Canada. It’s a stunning view, but be sure to exercise caution on the rocks when visiting. There are rogue waves that come on very quickly.

There are so many details to enjoy here. The fishing village is busy with boats on the water and traps lining the docks. The village shops, galleries, and restaurants are open and ready to greet visitors. Our favorite shop was The Buoy Shack, which you will see in the photos below. Be sure to bring cash for purchases. The homes on the hillside are painted bright primary colors in red, blue, and yellow. I love the nautical touches on all the fishing shacks and buildings.

There are a few restaurants in the small village, and we chose to dine at The Sou-Wester Restaurant & Gift Shop which is right next to the lighthouse. It had a nice, casual-fare seafood menu and great views of the lighthouse.

This village was a fun one to photograph, and it’s worth the visit if you are planning your trip to Nova Scotia.

I hope you enjoyed my photography of Peggy’s Cove. You can read my full Nova Scotia Travel Guide for more ideas on places to visit.
