The Friday Five | 7.5.24

I hope you are having a wonderful 4th of July weekend! We have been having the best time celebrating with our family and now we are on vacation. I’ll be sharing some Nantucket beauty with you soon, I promise! The hydrangeas this year are insanely good! Here are 5 things that caught my eye this week…

ONE

This cosmetic bag…

When I packed for Nantucket, I used this raffia and navy cosmetic bag for the first time, and it’s going to be my go-to for travel. It has two zipper compartments with protective sleeves and the thing I love most is the brush compartment. It’s easy to pack in a suitcase. So smart!

TWO

This striped sweater & these olive shorts

I bought these on a whim because they were marked down so much, and they ended up being one of my favorite purchases of summer. This oversized striped polo sweater is so cute on. I sized down and ordered a tall for extra length in the arms. It’s going to be a favorite I reach for all year long. It’s only $31!

The linen high-waisted shorts are also an excellent find! The olive is on sale for only $24. I am 5’11”, and some of the cuts on the high rise shorts just don’t hit long enough in the rise for me. I love that Gap offers talls in shorts! These hit me perfect and are so cute on. I ordered more colors because they are such a perfect fit for me. They come in regular and petite too, but if you need tall in high rise shorts, these are great.

THREE

Elin’s last book and Netflix…

It’s been a buzz for over a month now that Elin Hilderbrand announced she wrote her last novel. I’m going to pick it up while I’m on island. One of her novels is picked up by Netflix and will have a star-studded cast including Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber. The Perfect Couple is expected to release this year, and I’m so excited to watch it. In her recent TV interview, Elin remarked that “Nantucket has never been done right in a movie…” so I’m excited to see what this latest production will offer the viewer.

FOUR

Upcycled bag brand with a mission…

On the Road Again is a brand that takes deadstock, remnants that are set to be sent to landfills, and turns them into totes and placemats. Mary Dimuro is the maker and she takes these unused materials, usually mesh or canvas from the sailing and trucking industry, and makes these fabulous bags. I’ve met Mary and she is amazing! I love the mission of her brand. These bags are handmade by Mary in her Massachusetts studio. True New England ingenuity at its finest!

Featured here is the Liberty Tote in Red, my personal favorite.

The J. Crew Summer Sale

J. Crew has been killing this past year. Since last fall, I’ve been loving the brand even more. A lot of my favorites are in the summer sale, and you can save an extra 60% off many sale finds right now. Such a great time to shop for summer and there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy.
