This December, I stayed at the luxurious Delamar Hotel in West Hartford, Connecticut to enjoy their Shopper’s Getaway Package. West Hartford is ten minutes from my front door, so it was a lovely little staycation. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic little stay and dinner in this beautiful hotel.
The Delamar is located right in the best retail district in West Hartford in Blue Back Square. It’s prime location is walking distance to great shops, boutiques, restaurants, and more in the Square and the Center. The best way to describe a stay at The Delamar is to say it is an indulgent treat. The hotel has a very cosmopolitan feel to it. It instantly makes me think of NYC. The interiors are designed beautifully with a designer fixtures and furnishings. The rooms are well-appointed with high end amenities. The on site restaurant, Artisan, is a lovely intimate dining experience and the spa is top notch.

The Lobby
Upon entering the lobby, you are greeted with a grand staircase with lucite railings. The staircase is like a huge chandelier and is exceptionally stunning with greenery and lights gracing it. It’s quite a the focal point.
Just past the reception desk, you enter the main lobby sitting area. The fireplace is so warm and cozy in this room. The piano is quite the conversation piece too. Many famous fingers have tickled those keys including Billy Joel, Dave Matthews, and Justin Beiber— just to name a few. It is a replica 1931 Bluthner PH grand piano and only 11 were ever made. The piano’s avant garde design is by Poul Hennigsen who was a prolific designer, author and critic. His most famous quote: “All political art is bad; all good art is political.”
Another beautiful part of the lobby design is the floor tile. When you see it from the top of the staircase it is the most splendid tartan design. Quite eye-catching!
Our Room
We stayed in a Deluxe King room that had a walk out balcony patio. Our room was gorgeous with a dining/work table, a large marble bathroom with Bvlari amentities, and luxurious robes. We had a welcome of wine and chocolates and you can request a Nespresso machine to be brought up to your room to use during your stay.
Grab & Go Breakfast
The Delamar offers a complimentary continental Grab & Go Breakfast during your stay mornings 6am to 10am. To keep everyone safe during COVID, this is a great option and you can enjoy it in the comfort of your room or in the breakfast room with socially distanced tables that are sanitized before and after every guest.
The breakfast includes your choice of organic yogurts, fresh fruit, cereal bars, cereals, milk, and juices. You can also help yourself to a coffee drink of your choice all day long with their espresso machine that makes everything. Americanos, espressos, lattes, even hot chocolate at the push of a button.
The Spa
When you book your stay at The Delamar you must visit The Spa. Delamar Spa offers cutting edge treatments straight from Europe and has custom treatments using Biologique Recherche and Valmont skincare lines.
The service is amazing and I think I could make a day of it here. It’s soothing and I think I just discovered a hidden gem—luckily it’s in my area and I can go back soon. When you stay for the Shopper’s Getaway you receive 10% off all Delamar Spa services.

It was such a festive staycation for us. We love visiting this part of West Hartford regularly. The shopping and restaurant scene is great. Having this gem of a hotel in the area is so wonderful too. We are already talking about another couples getaway in the near future.
We visited and shopped all the stores listed above. Favorites for me always include J McLaughlin, Kimberly Boutique, Cookshop Plus, and Bridgewater Chocolate. Just trust me— the peppermint bark from Bridgewater is life-changing!
Restaurant favorites include Artisan at the Delamar. It’s farm to table and the food is divine. A great date night place. Avert is another favorite and is a Parisian inspired bistro with the best Beef Bourguignon. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Paris. Treva and Bricco are both great for Italian fare. Max Fish is great for seafood with a fun atmosphere. Of course, Bar Taco is always a good time.
Arethusa Dairy just opened a cafe and bakery location here recently too. We stopped in to grab a to-go lunch during our stay and had to get some egg nog. So, so good!
I’d like to thank the staff, restaurant, and spa at The Delamar for a lovely stay. All opinions are my own.
Merry merry,
Kristy
