We have been booking our spring and summer travel since the beginning of the year and wanted to announce the locations we will be highlighting the end of April through August. I’m not going to include day trips in this, since that would make the list really long, but focus on the places we are staying this season. They’ll be plenty of day trip or weekend highlights this season for a quick getaway too.
Here’s our Spring & Summer New England Travel Series for 2022
The Top 5 Spots we are traveling to this season…
#1 Kennebunkport, Maine
We have frequented this idyllic coastal town many times, but we’ve never visited in early spring. We are kicking off our series with a stay at a seaside inn with ocean views and we are going to share more of this favorite with some activities and surrounding area stops.
You can read our posts about Kennebunkport for guides and what we have shared so far from our getaways here:

#2 Nantucket
This is our favorite summer place and we always book a trip here once the blooms are appearing on the island. We’ve been multiple times in different seasons and have highlighted some amazing places to stay, but this upcoming summer trip is going to be making up for last year when I could not walk and had a broken foot. We made the most of our vacation here, but I missed going to some of my favorite haunts. We are planning it as we always do…to hit the roses in Sconset and the hydrangeas starting to erupt…fingers-crossed it’s a good year for blooms!

#3 Martha’s Vineyard
I’ve been to Martha’s a few times, but never in the summer! So crazy to think that, but we always stick to our spots and this year I want to see MV in all its glory with a summer stay.

#4 Newport, Rhode Island
Newport happens to be one of Topher’s most favorite places so we end up here a lot for quick little day trips and overnights. It’s a great place to take someone to get the “New England experience” and when we have guests stay with us we love to take them here for a little fun. Boating, sailing, dining, and shopping—this coastal gem has it all. I want to put together a comprehensive guide to our favorite things to do and see this year too. I have come here for work a few times, but this next visit is a really special one this coming August. We will celebrate 20 years of marriage and booked one of our favorite hotels with iconic water views to celebrate. Some fun on the water too!

#5 Block Island
Every year, I like to add one or two places to my feature list that I’ve never explored before. This year, we both decided we needed to get over to Block Island. We’ve always had it on our list but get busy with other things and have never made it there. Being that we live in Connecticut, it is really easy to get there so we are going to add it to our list for summer 2022!
Those are the top 5 places we are featuring this year and with this being a big return to travel for me after last year’s unexpected injury and surgery, I’m ready to fit in as many day trips and little overnights that are easy to get to from Connecticut too.
