Summer is in full swing in Newport, Rhode Island! We recently stayed at The Brenton Hotel located right in the heart of the Newport’s historic downtown. On the corner of America’s Cup Drive and Long Wharf, the hotel has a great location with water views and is walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and nightlife.
I loved the interiors here. The vibe is very mod nautical. Thoughtful details speak to Newport and everything coastal with the spiral lighthouse staircase, the curiosities on the bookshelves, and the fabrics and fixtures throughout the hotel. It’s all very well-designed.
The Hotel
The main floor of the hotel has a living room, bar, and library and huge floor to ceiling windows with views of the water. It’s laid-back luxury at its finest. The Living Room at The Brenton is also the place to enjoy breakfast before you head out for your day and at night the spot to meet up with friends for small plates and cocktails when the sun goes down.

Guest Rooms
We stayed in a king suite with water views. The Brenton offers guest rooms, suites, and penthouse suites. So many have great views and some have balconies. Every room is designed and laid out so well. Matouk robes, BVLGARI bath products, and Nespresso are nice added touches. Interiors have a nautical whimsy vibe with high-end details. Very comfortable and no detail is overlooked.

The Rooftop
The Rooftop at The Brenton is a great spot for an afternoon sip and to watch the sunset. Open for guests all day long and open hours for the bar and small bites are 4pm-sunset for everyone. This green rooftop has ample seating and conversation areas. Sit back and watch the water or even overlook a ballgame. There’s even a putting green to practice your game. Such a fun vibe and there are fire pits for the cooler afternoons and evenings.

We loved our stay at The Brenton Hotel. The hotel staff was lovely and helpful. Valet on-site parking makes getting around a breeze. Everything we ordered from the restaurant was absolutely delicious. Definitely add this to your list of hotels to stay at while visiting this “City by the Sea”. If you are in the area, be sure to visit the rooftop bar for great views and a fun atmosphere.
