Foxhill House Reno 2024

Where we left it…

Happy 2024! I spent yesterday packing away our Christmas decor and resetting the home for the new year. With that comes a return to our home renovation here at Foxhill House. We hit pause on our projects right before Thanksgiving so we could enjoy the holiday season in our home. Now, I feel revived and ready to get back to designing interiors and planning the bigger remodeling projects this year.

I thought I’d catch you up on where we left off and share the other spaces in our home we will be working on this year.

Good homes take time…

LIVING ROOM

We got a lot done on our living room last year. We added shiplap to the staircase and accented some walls with it for a coastal touch. We installed wallpaper in our entry way that is open to our living room. We installed new custom curtains and added in new pillows to our sofa. This Pottery Barn Deep-seated York Slope Arm Sofa has been such a hit with the family, that I decided to order another one to have a matching pair in the living room instead of doing a pair of chairs. We have really tall teenagers and the extra depth and length is such a good fit for the family. Also, I opted for the Warm White Performance Twill Slipcovers and can easily clean spills and wash these in the washing machine. We definitely live in this room pets, teenage boys, and all!

Finishing this space…

This year, to finish off this space I have just a few items to address. I’m going to be working on this the first months of this year.

  • Select & replace grasscloth wallpaper on fireplace wall
  • Order matching sofa and pillows for other side of fireplace to replace old chairs
  • Select sconces and install
  • Touch up paint
Replacing our old chairs with a matching sofa, selecting new wallpaper, and adding sconces for more soft evening light.

DINING ROOM

Our dining room we put on pause right before Thanksgiving. We made a little more progress that I didn’t share yet. All of the wallpaper is installed, we had a chandelier installed (need it a tad bit lowered), and the extra slipcovered chairs arrived. We started the walls with the chair rail too.

Finishing this space…

We had a good stopping point, and the beginning of this year we are going to install the crown and picture moulding. I have some decor and storage furniture to shop for too.

  • Install crown & picture moulding
  • Find a credenza or hutch for china and linen storage
  • Have chandelier lowered a few inches
  • Add in art and decor
This month, we will be finishing the walls with crown molding and adding picture moulding on the lower half of the walls. Next, I will be sourcing the storage furniture and decor.

New in the dining room…

UPSTAIRS BATHROOM

The Before…

We are going to completely remodel one of our bathrooms this year. This is the bathroom right off the hallway upstairs and it’s pretty original to the home. We’ve lived with it as-is for the past 6 years and decided this was the year to take this space on! I’m excited to start working on the the design plans on this one. We are ripping out everything and going to work on it this spring.

KITCHEN

The Before…

This space I’ve been dying to get my hands on…I love a kitchen remodel and this one I’m most excited about!

The kitchen…where to begin??? It has the same tile we ripped out of our last home. It’s not awful as-is, but it’s not my style. Also, it’s SOOOO DARK in here during the daytime. I love a light and airy kitchen with character, so this is one I’ve been patiently waiting to start. We are starting this one after the bathroom remodel this year.

It does have a couple of good things going for it…

It’s open to our living room and has a pass through to the dining room. Also, it is open to a breakfast nook space that I’m going to revamp too.

It’s another year of interiors…

2024 is going to be another year of interiors for us…we got off to a start last year getting our bedroom done and almost getting the living room and dining room finished. This year we are going to get into it! I love old homes and rescuing this one and making it a new kind of beautiful is one of the things I’m looking forward to most this year on the project side of things.

Happy New Year!
