My Fall Wardrobe Essentials 2022

Happy August! As I have been enjoying the summer, I do love to plan my fall wardrobe ahead of time. Every year, I invest in a staple piece and replace or update some things that are past their prime. Right now, inventory is great, so I’m ordering a few things to make sure I get my size before they sell out. I waited too long last year on boots and I couldn’t get the ones I wanted so I’m jumping on it early this year!

These are my personal fall wardrobe essentials for 2022. I think the old rules really don’t apply anymore in some cases. I’m all for white jeans with warm earth tones in the fall. I love that mix so much with tortoise accessories and a suede shoe or handbag. Also, all about bringing those warmer weather details into these early fall offerings too. Loving a bamboo detail on a neutral bag. I’m really enjoying seeing that mix this season with added fall details like suede, croc, or a horse bit adornment.

Here are my picks for an essential wardrobe you can mix with your favorite pair of jeans or leggings. A lot of these work together nicely to mix and match.

Once September hits, I definitely like some fall layers in my closet. Especially, if I head up to Northern New England to catch the early color change. Often end of August, I want something too for added warmth at night or if we are boating or sailing. Here’s my picks for 2022 layers. This funnel neck poncho sold out last year and I was so happy to see it back this month. I hope the other colors come back too. I have some great houndstooth and tweed blazers, but I think its fun to add in a deep blue wool blazer for a little more color too. This green quilted vest I’m taking to Rockport with me next week for early beach morning walks. It will be a great addition for fall and I love the length on it.

I have loved my raffia Elisabetta bag all spring and summer long and it will be a treasured one for years to come. It’s such a great every day bag and I’m updating with this chestnut suede and bamboo bag this fall. The color is so warm—I adore it. For a fun little one to wear with dresses and out to dinner I love this bamboo mini bag with the horse bit. For a crossbody, loving this richly colored croc bag.

My riding boots are looking really rough these days, so I’m ordering these tall cognac riding boots. I like the streamlined style of them and if you need a wide calf they have that option too. For quick runs out the door to take my son back and forth to school, I like a nice driving flat I can slip on quickly. I wanted a more neutral colored wellie this year, and these green rain boots are a great price and have an adjustable back so you can get the right fit. Perfect for beach walks and being in the muck.

Fall is definitely my favorite season to shop for clothes, so you may see a few more fashion posts pop up soon. This season, I’m updating my white blouse with this white ruffle blouse. It will look great layered under jackets and vests or just by itself. I like to add a couple new transitional dresses for late August and September too. Love this antelope print dress. It pairs nicely with some fall accessories or mixes well with raffia accessories for warm days.

That iconic Burberry Plaid always says fall to me, and I love to splurge of something that will always fit. This cashmere plaid scarf and silk plaid scarf would be great additions for fall. For jewelry, I like to keep my earrings pretty simple for fall. Usually, a diamond or pearl stud, but I did just add these hoop pearl earrings to my jewelry box and they are perfect for a subtle extra touch. Also, fall is tortoise everything season and I love this tortoise and gold clasp bangle bracelet and these oversized tortoise sunglasses. For a little colorful touch this feather pin is so cute to add to a jacket, purse, or hat for fall.

Those are my picks for fall wardrobe essentials this 2022. I will be sharing how I’m wearing these this August and fall.
