Making it “ours”…

This is the second space we’ve tackled in our New England colonial, and I’m loving how it’s taking shape! Making it ours was a recipe of blending coastal elements, equestrian chic touches, a little whimsy, and my love of designer fabrics and wall coverings to create a foundation space for our home that is uniquely ours. We have started to create a space that nods to our Nantucket summers and our moodier Ralph Lauren-esque decor tastes.
A couple of things I decided not to part with…Originally, I had found a stair runner to replace the antelope runner and I just didn’t want to part with it yet. That is one of the first things I installed in this house when we moved here and I’m not ready to update it yet. When I work on the gallery wall up the staircase, I’m going to bring it all together, but I love how the deep brown mimics the brick on our fireplace–another original surface I don’t want to change in this old colonial. I know some would paint the brick or tile over it, but I love the warmth and having original details from the home design.

I love the direction our home is going and we are just awaiting some furniture deliveries and I will update this when they arrive. We are starting our dining room in a week, when I get back from some early fall travels, and I’m excited to share the mood board for that room with you soon.
