We’ve been having amazing weather these past couple of weeks in Connecticut! August has been a month of birthday celebrations and fighting the summer wind down to school beginning. We are getting ready for some end of summer travels and have been enjoying little day trips lately. We are trying to get as much family time in as possible in these last weeks of summer. Here’s a few moments from the last couple of weeks.
Sunflower Farm
We headed to Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, CT to enjoy walking in the sunflower fields and some ice cream. Unfortunately, after we enjoyed the fields our youngest wasn’t feeling good, so we had to miss out on trying their ice cream. I am told it is really good though! Better luck next year! I did snap a few photos of the beautiful blooms. This farm was definitely worth the drive.
Breakfast Date
It’s been great catching up with friends over the summer. I had an extra long breakfast with a dear friend recently and it was so nice to cut that time out. It was a beautiful day and I was feeling extra bright and sunny and used this J. McLaughlin bag for the first time. It’s definitely going to get a lot of use the rest of this summer! The monogram was done by Monogram Mary and I just love the personal touch.
Birthday Fun
We celebrated Topher’s birthday with a day trip to Newport. We got rained on a tiny bit that morning, but it was short-lived. We had a meal on the dock at The Mooring, Del’s for dessert, did a little antiquing and then headed to the beach. I love a beach afternoon when it’s not busy and it cools down a little. The water is still warm enough to enjoy, but the sand is not crowded. Walks along the water were perfection that evening.
Summer Farm Stands
Other than that we’ve just been enjoying being at home. Spending time with family and friends. Trips to the farmers market. Nights in the backyard. I’ve been trying to slow down and enjoy this summer that seems to be flying by!
I finally stopped at The Eddy Farm Stand and picked up some goodies. I can not tell you how many times I’ve passed this and not had time to stop. Finally, I made it a point to do so. I love how they display their crops and they also grow their own flowers and do workshops throughout the year.
Dress c/o Duffield Lane
Now we are getting ready for the first of a few trips we have to finish out our summer. I’ll be sharing them with you all soon!
