The WeekENDer

E D I T I O N

no. 2

Cheers! We made it to the weekend! The weather forecast for Saturday here in Connecticut is supposed to be wonderful. I’m hoping to be out in the yard for most of it. Here’s your Friday WeekENDer post…

Epicurious in the Kitchen

Easy Seared Scallops Recipe One thing I love about this nicer weather is our dinners have been super easy as of late. Last night, I whipped up some scallops as an appetizer while Topher grilled and the boys put together another spring salad. This recipe is almost exactly how I make my scallops if you saw my IG stories last night. So quick…maybe 5 minutes tops to prep, cook, and plate…and they don’t last very long either! That plate was decimated in seconds with these boys!

J. Crew Lobster Sweater-Jacket

A sweater jacket to summer in… I’m pretty sure this new J. Crew ad campaign was made for those nostalgic catalog buyers from the 80’s and 90’s like myself! Now, only if we could get the catalog back…probably not with this retail climate and everything going E-commerce, but a girl can dream. I ordered that J. Crew lobster sweater jacket because, well, the lobster and it looks like it’s made well. It had good reviews online. I’ll see when it arrives, but I think it will be perfect for a New England summer. Hoping J. Crew can find that magic they once had again. I’m totally cheering for them!

Speaking of J. Crew… Sarah Brown just wrote a piece for Town & Country titled “The J. Crew Catalog of the ‘90s was My Generation’s Preppy Handbook” and it was a fun, nostalgic read! I definitely related to it. I remember getting excited when I saw it in the mail and definitely dog-eared quite a few pages in my time. I had totally forgotten about the Dawson’s Creek crew showing up on their pages!

No Place Like Home

I’m into making our backyard a sanctuary. It will take us years before we get it there because of renovations and landscaping. We haven’t even bought an outdoor table and chairs yet . Our patio has an outdoor sectional on it right now and that’s about it. I thought it would be fun for the family to have picnic nights out there since we are lacking in outdoor dining space at the current moment. We’ve been playing a lot of lawn games— bean bag toss is getting quite competitive! Why not make a day of it and lay down some blankets and bring out some afternoon or evening treats. Then, I went down the rabbit hole of looking at picnic baskets…

Also, I saw these really cute personalized bean bag toss sets. Mark & Graham is so fun to look at and I’m also a sucker for a monogram! This set would make such a cute wedding gift.
