With all the news coverage of the pandemic and all the restrictions on work and travel, I am keeping a positive vibe and just going on business as usual around here. Awareness and good hygiene practices are key, but I’m trying not to let the constant 24 hour news cycle dominate my life. I’ve booked some of our summer travels, I’m working on new collaborations, and thinking about all things spring.
In the spirit of keeping things lighthearted, I thought I’d share some of my favorite warmer weather things—lobster and madras season. New England in the spring and summer means the return of these two staples and I am so ready for them! Especially this year!
Last season, I had the pleasure of getting to know a few new brands that embody the New England spirit and I thought I’d share them today with you. Sharing brands that fit the New England lifestyle is a passion of mine. I love to meet and learn about the creatives behind them.
I think we are all pining for the change of season lately, so let’s think spring wardrobe! Let’s get started, shall we?
The warmer months will soon be here and madras is an iconic wardrobe staple. Just Madras is a brand that has a great selection of madras styles and I just love their tagline too: “The American lifestyle brand actually made in America.”
Just Madras has more than just madras and I can’t wait to see their offerings for the spring and summer. You can shop now online because there are some repeat pieces that will be offered the entire season.
Coastal Maine is a special place to my family and here’s my little side trip we made to Cape Neddick Lobster Pound after a visit to the Nubble Lighthouse. I’ll link to all the pieces shown here at the end of this post…

About the brands…
Just Madras | Be sure to check out Just Madras. I love their women’s offerings and cute headbands! I worked with the owner, Maggie, last season and she has such a passion for classic American style. If you love nautical and preppy—you will love Just Madras. Also, they have a men’s collection that I need to check out for all the men (young and old) in my life!
Sewcialite | Another favorite New England maker from this post is Sewcialite. Roula is a talented fiber artist that resides in New Hampshire. I am always so impressed by her creations and love to see her creativity on Instagram. She is doing some amazing detail work on her bags with beads right now.
Maine Melon | A great New England jewelry brand. Maryellen is the designer and her pieces are coastal and beautiful. Fun fact: Her first creations were inspired by lobster buoys! You know I love that!
Here at Kristy & New England, I love to support and share brands and makers who embody the New England spirit. These talented creatives are the definition of New England ingenuity.
I am going to keep dreaming of spring and I’m hoping to pack away those coats and heavy sweaters soon! Bring on the madras!
