The last weeks of August always feel like a whirlwind and part of me wants to hold onto summer a bit longer, then the other part of me pines away for sweater weather and my favorite season of all. Here are some snaps of our last weeks of August here in New England—you can see my seasonal conflict!
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in Newport with a stay at Castle Hill Inn last week. It was lovely and I hardly took a photo the whole time. Topher snapped a few of me and we took one together, but it was so nice to unplug and just really enjoy our time at that lovely inn with that iconic lawn and lighthouse.
This week, I’ve been enjoying nestling back into home and getting things ready for the upcoming school year. We have one off to college and one still in middle school. I’ve been looking at home projects once again and I think in September I’ll tackle a couple of them. It’s been nice to slow down and enjoy our sweet town and home before family life gets really busy again.

Topher snapped this as we were enjoying Grace Kelly Beach. I just love this image he captured.
Pocket Pants Set in Vintage Olive
Our suite was beautiful and we enjoyed it so much. We spent mornings and an hour or two before dinner relaxing in here. It had me thinking about the turn of the seasons. It was a masculine room with lovely feminine touches here and there.
My pajamas are new and from LAKE Pajamas. They have a new Naturalist Collection that just launched and this set I’ll link for you. Perfect for September and transitioning into fall a bit more. I love the green stripe and pockets.

Our first night at Castle Hill we had dinner and drinks on the lawn. I loved wearing this dress. It was humid after the rainstorm, so my hair definitely didn’t look its best (frizzy!!), but it was a lovely evening and great way to kick off our wedding anniversary.

I’ll share more of our time in Newport this week, but a highlight was enjoying time on the water aboard this beautiful Hinckley.

This last week of August as we move into September, I’ll be home for a few weeks enjoying this time. I love our town this time of year. Things are starting to slow down with the start of school, and it’s more peaceful in town.
Scout finished her puppy training and we’ve been enjoying taking her out with us. Watching sunsets at The Cove have been so pretty lately. Some nights have been cooler so I got to wear this new Sail to Sable sweater. It’s a great layer for late summer into fall.

Another thing we have been enjoying these last weeks of summer…Heading to the shore and grabbing some seafood from some of our favorite spots. There have been some lovely beach walks lately. I love how the light gets a tad bit warmer these last weeks of summer. You can start to feel the shift in seasons slightly.
It was nice to take the week off and really celebrate our big 20 years together. I’m officially back to work this week and have a lot to catch up on, but these last weeks of August have been worth the time off.
A few travel recaps coming your way next week, plus an official kickoff to September and the fall season.
